Poems 1773, Edited by Lisa Vargo and Allison Muri
Barbauld's namesake and maternal grandmother, who died 15 October 1770 at age 83. Barbauld pays humourous tribute to Anna Letitia Jennings in lines 66-73 of "Washing Day," where she describes how the Aikin children would hide her spectacles and pull her needles out of her knitting, while the rest of the females in the household were preoccupied with the washing.
