My dear Grosvenor
The post arrives so late; that I have barely time to acknowledge the half-bills.  – I shall soon send you two books of Roderick,  & also some of my inscriptions, of which five are written.  You will see my thundering Ode in the Courier  – No doubt the M. Chronicle will fire away at it. 
Oh that you had been here on Tuesday morning to have heard the roaring of the Ice upon Derwentwater!

 Southey only completed 18 of his planned 30 inscriptions on the heroes and battles of the Peninsular War. They were not collected until the last lifetime edition of his poetical works in 1837–1838. BACK
