1493. Robert Southey to Charles Watkin Williams Wynn, [mid-August 1808] *

My dear Wynn

I know not whether I told you that Mr T. Southey is treading in the steps of his late brother, – that is that the same sort of insanity (for such it is truly, tho not legally) has broken out in him. He has turned his sister out of doors, – & without the slightest provocation, xxxx, or pretext, cut off all connection with all his family. – That name Southey looks admirably well in black letter upon a title page, – & the satisfaction of seeing how well it looks there, will be all the benefit I shall ever derive from it.

Where shall the Cid [1]  be sent you? it will be ready in a fortnight.

RS.
