Features

This section seeks to provide a rotating series of features of particular interest to Romanticists. We welcome other scholars to propose features of their own: exhibits of texts and/or images, transcriptions of live or virtual seminars and discussions, constellations and tours of relevant web pages and other virtual sites. We are especially interested in features on aspects of Romantic studies otherwise unrepresented on the WWW, and features that help students in the field discover, digest, and use the growing profusion of relevant information online and in print.

Conference Archive

This page provides an archive of program copy from conferences and sessions of special interest to Romanticists. It includes a complete record of NASSR and ACR conference programs, as well as MLA sessions sponsored by the Division on the English Romantic Period, the Division on Comparative Studies in Romanticism, the Wordsworth-Coleridge Assocation, the Keats-Shelley Association, and the Byron Society since 1990. It also provides links to the Romantic Circles Virtual Conference series and to conference sites archived on RC and on servers elsewhere.

Villa Diodati

Villa Diodati is a five-room MOOspace, located in the virtual world of Romantic Circles. It takes its name from the house in the Swiss village of Cologny, with a splendid view of Lake Leman, that Lord Byron rented in the legendary summer of 1816. Byron and his physician/companion John Polidori were joined at the Villa Diodati throughout the summer by the Shelleys and Claire Clairmont for talks that often lasted long into the night. It was, of course, a famous story-telling contest held at the Villa Diodati that served as the impetus for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
