Item Description:

Henry Fuseli’s Midnight presents the Gothic structures and draped figures that competed with Romantic classicist form in Romantic art. This Fuseli work is early and far less well known than Fuseli’s most famous subject The Nightmare, which he first painted in 1781. The next image, a political caricature, satirizes this famous Fuseli image.
