Item Description:

"Goodrich Castle," like "Grand Woody Banks near Ross-on-Wye," is an aquatint recreation of a sketch in William Gilpin's travel journal. Unlike other sketches of Gilpin's, "Goodrich Castle" is largely representational (i.e. Gilpin has not "edited" the natural scenery to suit his tastes), since Gilpin deemed the scene "correctly Picturesque" (W. Gilpin, Observations 7).
