Samuel Gladden is Assistant Professor of Nineteenth-Century British Literature and Culture at the Univesrity of Northern Iowa. His book, Shelley's Textual Seductions: Plotting Utopia in the Erotic and Political Works, will be published by Routledge in early 2002. His most recent publication is "'Sebastian Melmoth': Wilde's Parisian Exile as the Spectacle of Sexual, Textual Revolution" (Victorians Institute Journal 28 ). Professor Gladden's current research includes work toward a new book tentatively entitled Lacunae and Textual Consummation: Absences, Openings, and Other Sexy Spaces in Nineteenth-Century England.
