1626. Robert Southey to John Murray, 8 May 1809 *
Keswick. May 8. 1809
All the books concerning America (except Pauws Researches which shall be returned with the South Sea cargo) are dispatched this day, to go by waggon from Penrith, – the Ramayuna & the poem upon the Restoration of Literature in Hindostan are included in the parcel. This nights post will take the American article; – it is a review of Holmess Annals, – naturally concluding with a sketch of the state of Society in the United States.
– The last proof has arrived while I am writing. – I am obliged to Turner for his solicitude. My little boy, God be praised, has been saved, & is now recovering from the effects of the violent remedies which preserved him.
I have now nothing before me except the Missionary article.
I am Sir
Yours very truly
