York
|
| York
is a now
a major Northern
city, but
the city
centre, where
Shelley,
Hogg and Harriet
went after
leaving Edinburgh
in October
of 1811 (and
where Hogg
tried to
seduce Harriet),
is still
a picturesque
market town
with a lively
tourist trade. |

|
| We
attempted
to locate "Miss
Dancer's,
Coney Street " and
the Blake
Street
address
at the local
public
library
without
success—although
Blake and
Cony-Street
still exist,
without
specific
addresses,
we were
unable
to determine
the exact
Shelley
sites.
Dan Hall,
however,
had the
good sense
to look
in the Oxford
University
Press
Literary
Guide
to Britain and
found
Miss
Dancer's
at “20
Coney
Street.” Biff
Vernon
visited
York
and
took
this
photo
of the
site. |
