Scafell Pike, Ill Crag, and Broad Crag are known collectively as the “Pikes of Scafell.” Dorothy is correct in her estimate of the altitude. People long thought Scafell (3,163 feet) the highest peak on the massif, but surveyors eventually determined that Scafell Pike (3,209 feet), connected to Scafell by the col of Mickledore, was in fact higher.
